Our projects

Elgin, IL Garage
The owner of this home wanted to go with a darker design while also painting the walls to showcase his black SUV. We elected to install ProRez's Biothane basecoat tinted black, raven colored flake from Torginol, and ProRez's ProSpartic topcoat. The floor was completed in one day and we returned later that week to paint the walls and ceiling.
Hoffman Estates, IL Basement
This project started out with a sample board for color approval. Four parts Dolphin gray, one part Great White, and one part Caviar Metallic was the final selection. Concrete was prepared, a black epoxy basecoat was installed and left to cure. Upon return we vacuumed and cleaned the floor again, mixed the metallics, and installed the three color metallic epoxy system. Returning on a third day we protected the epoxy with a layer ProThane Gloss Polyurethane.
Barrington, IL Garage
We worked with the owner of this home to select a custom Viktor flake blend from Torginol, by adding additional yellow and purple flake to the standard mix. We prepared the garage by sealing off air gaps to the home with plastic, grinding the floor, patching areas of spalled concrete, regrinding the patched areas, and vacuuming the concrete dust. We then installed ProRez's Biothane which is a plant oil-based polyurethane base coat and broadcasted the flake. After scraping and vacuuming the excess flake, ProRez's Prospartic was applied and the gloss level is beautiful.
St. Charles, IL Garage
We removed the existing coating by diamond grinding to expose clean profiled concrete. Next we repaired cracks and installed a light gray epoxy base coat and broadcasted 1/4" Orbit flake. After allowing time for drying we finished the project with a gloss polyaspartic top coat.

St. Charles, IL Garage
This homeowner was utilizing a big box do it yourself epoxy and recoating every two years. His biggest frustration was emptying the garage and moving all of the belongings back in. We prepared the concrete, filled cracks, and smoothed out spalled areas. We then applied Seal-Kretes Dune Tan Performance Fast Cure Epoxy and broadcast Shoreline flake to rejection. After scraping off excess flake and vacuuming the floor we applied ProRez's ProSpartic for a shiny durable finish.
Elburn, IL Garage
The garage of this farm house was in rough shape due to embedded oil and significant cracks. For this project we degreased the floor and diamond ground the concrete to provide a suitable substrate for the new epoxy floor. After a lot of patching and some minor concreate repairs to smooth crack transitions we installed a 100% solids tan epoxy, 1/4" canyon flake, and low odor polyaspartic top coat with embedded aluminum oxide for slip resistance. With a fresh coat of paint on the drywall and newly installed baseboard the homeowner is ecstatic.
Campton Hills, IL Garage
We were a few hundred dollars higher than the competition, however the homeowner elected to utilize 1st Gear Services as we included proper crack repair from the beginning and refused to epoxy over 35 year old caulk.
The floor was originally slated to be medium gray, but a toad jumped into the flooring overnight while curing. Repairs were made and we transitioned it to a flake color called "Gravel" from Torginol. There were extra materials and an an additional day of labor in the project, but no change orders were requested. The homeowners graciously contributed to the cost of the flake, and we are appreciative of their support.
Westchester, IL Basement
With an existing coating in the main room of the basement and a heavy mastic in the living room of the basement we put some "elbow grease" into the concrete preparation prior to epoxying the floor with 16 mils of 100% solids epoxy. The new coating brightened up the room.
Campton Hills Basement
The owner of this home was tired of stepping on chipped concrete on their way to use the basement laundry facilities. With some concrete repairs and removal of the existing coating we installed a black epoxy base coat. After allowing 24 hours to dry, we installed a three color metallic epoxy system with copper, black, and a hint of aluminum. The finishing touch was a clear polyurethane top coat with excellent abrasion and wear resistance to protect the floor from the kids!
